Seven applications to participate in the auction for Southern North Sea II
Norway's push for offshore wind development gains traction as seven consortiums have applied for the auction at Southern North Sea II.?
-We are happy to see seven potential applicants in a time where high costs are a backdrop, and it is complicated to get projects profitable. Now, we must also make sure to get speedy progress with ESA for Utsira North so that we can start our floating flagship projects. Norway must be the pioneer in industrialising floating wind, says Arvid Nesse, General Manager of Norwegian Offshore Wind.
HSE Working Group: Emergency Preparedness
The HSE Working Group for offshore wind serves as a platform for knowledge exchange on topics such as regulatory frameworks, safety standards, emergency preparedness, competence, and education.
Members meet three times a year to discuss various subjects. A recent gathering at Proactima's offices focused on scaling emergency preparedness for offshore wind projects, featuring active participation and collaborative discussions among diverse stakeholders. The group remains steadfast in leading advancements, drawing inspiration from the offshore oil and gas sector.

Opportunities in Portugal as 50 consortiums express interest in offshore wind projects
The Portuguese government has released a list of 50 consortiums, including members of Norwegian Offshore Wind (NOW) like Equinor, RWE, Fred. Olsen Seawind, X1 Wind, and TotalEnergies, who have submitted Expressions of Interest for developing offshore wind projects in Portugal.

Norwegian companies are encouraged to participate, with opportunities for more NOW members to join the consortiums. The Offshore Renewable Energy Allocation Plan has set the stage for the pre-qualification and tender process. NOW, in collaboration with Fórum Oceano, hosted a webinar to facilitate collaboration between Norwegian and Portuguese developers. The pre-qualification process is expected to start in 2024, with the auction process likely in the second half of 2024 or 2025, depending on Portugal's political situation.
