Snapchat Is Switching to Google's Gemini System for AI Development

Snapchat Is Switching to Google's Gemini System for AI Development

Snapchat has begun integrating Google’s Gemini AI system to enhance its artificial intelligence (AI) functionality. Until now, Snapchat’s main AI element, the “My AI” bot, has been working with OpenAI’s GPT models, but now it’s making the switch to Google’s Gemini system.

The reason for this transition is that Gemini has a better understanding of different types of information, such as text, audio, images, and videos, and a stronger capacity to solve problems based on visual context. Google’s translation capabilities also play a significant role in this transition.

Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel said that My AI is an effective assistant for people to answer general knowledge questions and solve problems based on visual context. While Snap has not completely moved away from OpenAI, it seems that it will be moving more towards Google’s tools.

TikTok Is Shutting Down TikTok Music App

TikTok Is Shutting Down TikTok Music App

TikTok has announced that it will shut down its separate music streaming app called "TikTok Music" due to operational challenges and limited user interest. The app was initially launched in India in late 2019 under the name "Resso". However, Resso also failed to gain traction after TikTok was banned in India.

TikTok Music was renamed Resso last year and relaunched in Brazil and Indonesia. However, due to music licensing issues and the inability to compete with existing competitors, TikTok has decided to shift its focus to its main app.

The app will shut down on November 28, 2024, and users will be able to transfer their playlists until then. TikTok stated that it aims to add more value to the music industry.
