Investment in cloud technology is critical to maintaining information superiority in modern combat.?Decision-making in modern warfare depends on rapid processing of large data volumes by information technology systems. Drawing upon the findings of the European Defence Agency's study, Cloud Intelligence for Decision-Making Support and Analysis (CLAUDIA), Isabella H. explores three uses of Cloud technology in the defence sector: source analysis, edge computing and multi-domain operations. By mitigating challenges related to digital sovereignty and cultural shifts, the sector can position cloud as the backbone of all future digital defence capabilities.

On 23 May 2024, adopting Resolution A/78/L.67/Rev.1, the UN General Assembly established 11 July as the “International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica” and condemned any denial of the Srebrenica genocide. They also examine the factual and mental elements, taking into account the difficulty of proving the required intent, and present Ratko Mladi?’s prosecution for the Srebrenica massacre by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia.

In this News Flash, Giorgia Botter presents the recently signed strategic partnership between the Italian defence giant Leonardo and the German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall, which establishes a new 50-50 joint venture to develop a new battle tank for the Italian Army. With 60% of production based in Italy, this venture promises to modernise Italian military infrastructure and bolster European defence market.
