??Solana’s break-down broken down

/ Solana fell more than 12% last Wednesday as the blockchain suffered its second outage in the last month. Yikes

As we mentioned last week, validators in the network were not processing new blocks for several hours. That led to applications built on Solana’s blockchain being taken offline as a result. To fix this latest outage, validators had to restart, following instructions linked to from this same Twitter account, which later said the outage lasted four and a half hours.

We’ve been here long enough to say this is not the first or as it seems the last time this is happening - most recently in May Solana locked up for several hours for almost the same reason.

Hopefully they’re gonna get this under control, and we won’t be on standby each month waiting for it to happen again…?

??Remember when Ye said “Ask me later”?

/ In February Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, said he wouldn’t be co-signing on any NFTprojects, but hinted at it in the future… Maybe it’s time.

He recently filed several trademark applications that show the musician might be preparing to mint his own NFTs, alongside a wide range of physical products.

According to trademark attorney Josh Gerben, Ye has filed 17 new trademark applications which indicate the rapper aims "to launch YEEZUS-branded amusement parks, NFT's, toys and more."

One filing even notes the potential for “providing an online marketplace for buyers of crypto and/digital collectibles, currencies, tokens, and assets.”

??iNFTs might be coming

/ The Worldwide Developer Conference 2022, hosted by Apple, will be held online in the next few days from June 6–10, and feature some of the leading experts and advocates within the tech field.?

Forums such as MacRumours, have discovered that by clicking on the Memoji characters, an augmented reality mode is revealed with three trading card characters available to be claimed. These cards are expected to be positioned as Web2 elements used solely for collectible purposes, with no intrinsic or tradable value.

But knowing Apple, we doubt they’ll leave it at that, since the company recently applied for a trademark license for RealityOS, which is purportedly the operating software for the mixed-reality headset.

??How will NFTs transform Data ownership in the Metaverse

/ NFT hype cycles come and go, but there is no doubt NFTs will play a critical role in new content and digital economies, especially those important to Gen Z. If the metaverse is going to become a seamless extension of physical reality, we’ll need to enable persistent, portable versions of our virtual selves.

Web3 offers a game-changing window of opportunity where we can claim our hyperreal virtual identities without having to cede our personal data to centralized third-party platforms.

??Blaming Ape Yacht club?

/ Gordon Goner took to Twitter to say that Discord “isn’t working for Web3 communities" after the project's Discord server was hacked yet again.

In early April, the team announced that a "webhook in our Discord" was compromised, asking users not to mint anything. On April 25, the project's Instagram account and Discord server were once again hacked.

This isn’t the first time that the BAYC team tried to deflect blame - and it seems like people are catching onto this. Even Discord security developer Captain Plantain said phishing attacks will happen no matter what platform you choose, suggesting that the team should take the time and set up a "multilayer security" in order to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.

We’ll see if they get the hint…

??Stepn’s MAC - Model for Anti Cheating

/ Apart from trying to get rid of cheating and bots, STEPN is also working to limit its platform’s availability for users in China.

STEPN took to Twitter on June 5 to report that the platform had suffered a number of DDoS attacks that have caused recovery maintenance and associated improper performance, shortly after STEPN introduced its anti-cheating system referred to as “STEPN’s Model for Anti-Cheating.” The system aims to eliminate fake users from the platform as well as to prevent fraudulent motion data on the STEPN app in an attempt to gain unfair profit from the platform.
