Here are our top 5 news pieces for this week with key takeaways:
-
世界银行
on June 29 approved $1.5 billion in #financing to accelerate India’s development of low-carbon #energy ??
- The financing is expected to help India scale up #renewable energy, develop green hydrogen and stimulate #climate finance for low-carbon energy investments ??
- Scaling up the production of renewable energy will accelerate the transition to low-carbon electricity and support the emergence and expansion of the #greenhydrogen sector ?
- “The program will support the successful implementation of the National Green Hydrogen Mission that aims to stimulate $100 billion in private sector investment by 2030,” said
Auguste Tano Kouame
, World Bank Country Director for India ??
-
Kellogg Company
,
Essity
and
Novelis
have been selected by the
Department for Energy Security and Net Zero
to undertake demonstrations where they will switch #fuel in their production plants in the northwest of the UK to run on #hydrogen ??
- Aimed at demonstrating a reduction in their #carbonfootprints by using low-carbon hydrogen to manufacture products such as Kellogg’s Cornflakes, Plenty towels, and rolled aluminium products for the automotive industry and beverage cans, the projects are hoped to forge a pathway for other industries to #decarbonise ??
- The projects come under the HyNet Industrial Fuel Switching 2 programme, #funded by the UK Government’s £55m ($69m) Industrial Fuel Switching Competition, as part of its £1bn ($1.2bn) Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP) ??
- Low-carbon hydrogen, produced at the HyNet #lowcarbon hydrogen cluster will be supplied to all the demonstration projects by
BOC UK & Ireland
??
- The three projects follow on from two successful #hydrogen fuel switching demonstrations at Pilkington Glass and
联合利华
in the northwest to make sheet glass as well as Tresemme shampoo and Persil ??
- A fleet of 20 hydrogen-powered buses are now ferrying passengers around the Crawley, Horley and
London Gatwick
Airport area, thanks to £30m #investment from #transport operator
The Go-Ahead Group
??
- The company announced the launch of the new zero-emission #busservice yesterday, which is set to gain another 34 hydrogen-fuelled vehicles the next 18 months, eventually bringing the total fleet size to over 50 ??
- In order to service the growing bus fleet, a #liquidhydrogen refuelling station owned and operated by
空气化工产品公司
is also being developed in Crawley, which Go-Ahead said would be the largest of its kind in Europe once fully operational ?
- The hydrogen buses have been manufactured by
Wrightbus
, the Northern Ireland-based battery and hydrogen bus manufacturer, which is also responsible for many of London's #zeroemission double-deckers ??
-
Ceramics UK
(BCC), will use the #funding, which comes from the
Department for Energy Security and Net Zero
, to carry out phase two of its 'Hydrogen for the Ceramics Sector' project, which aims to demonstrate the potential for firing a range of #ceramic products using 100 per cent hydrogen, without affecting the performance or properties of the product ??
- This would provide an option to help #decarbonise the UK ceramic sector, provided enough hydrogen was available for each site. The sector is working towards achieving #netzero carbon emissions by 2050 ??
- The project is supported by 15 ceramic #manufacturing companies across all subsectors of the UK ceramics industry, including bricks, roof tiles, drainage pipes, floor and wall tiles, sanitaryware, tableware, refractories and technical ceramics ??
- BCC deputy chief executive Dr
Andrew McDermott
said "It will evaluate a far greater range of ceramic products, gaseous blends and firing atmospheres in a bespoke pilot kiln, as well as conducting demonstrations on production kilns, to build understanding in using hydrogen within an #industrial environment” ??
-
INEOS Automotive
plans to leave a mark at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 13-16, debuting its Grenadier Hydrogen Fuel Cell 4X4 #technology demonstrator ??
- INEOS previously announced a partnership with
Hyundai Motor Company (?????)
to explore using Hyundai’s #fuelcell system in INEOS’ Grenadier 4X4 ??
- As a #petrochemical giant, INEOS already produces over 400,000 tonnes of low-carbon hydrogen per year, and says it is campaigning to create a hydrogen infrastructure to support the widespread adoption of the energy carrier ??
