Sustainable Sport Round-Up
More than 120 children representing 25 clubs from across the Premier League and English Football League, including Sunderland AFC and Bristol City, have taken part in the Protect the Planet event. Funded by the Premier League and #iwill Fund, it was held at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium and aimed to enable young people to take part in an exhibition of social action projects aimed at the Earth’s conservation. It also featured a panel discussion and workshops designed to educate youth on the climate crisis.
Off-road racing series Extreme E has partnered with Ocean Bottle with the aim of removing the equivalent of one million plastic bottles from the sea. The reusable bottle brand claims that the sale of each one of its products is the same as preventing 1,000 plastic bottles from entering the world’s oceans. The partnership will officially begin in the first quarter of next year, but Extreme E has already purchased 250 of the bottles.
The ATP and Dunlop have extended their global partnership through to 2028, with the latter continuing to serve as the official ball supplier of the ATP Tour, a duty it has carried out since 2019. The Japanese brand will also become the official racket and official tennis accessories provider of the tour. It is focusing on advancing sustainability in tennis by developing eco-friendly materials for the balls and increasing the use of recycled materials.
