Baltimore bridge blown up in controlled demolition

US authorities blast debris from collapsed Baltimore bridge.

Hit by the container ship?"Dali" in March, the Baltimore Bridge collapsed and its debris is still preventing a return to normal navigation, almost two months after the accident. A piece of the bridge was blasted away on Monday May 13.


On Monday May 13, the American authorities blew up a piece of the Baltimore bridge that collapsed in March when it was struck by the distressed container ship?Dali, a tragedy in which six workers perished. Teams used controlled explosions to sever the metal beams of part of the structure, making it easier to cut away the debris.


The operation was also intended to free the Dali, a 300-metre vessel that had become embedded in one of the bridge's piers and is still partially blocking the access channel to this major?port for trade?on the East Coast of the United States.

Eurostar to Power Trains with 100% Renewable Energy by 2030

Eurostar, the high-speed rail network?linking France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and the UK, announces its goal of?enabling 30 million passengers to travel sustainably and with low carbon emissions?by 2030.


One of Eurostar's key objectives is to work with partners and regulators to power its trains?using 100% renewable energy?by 2030. "This is a deliberately ambitious target, Eurostar wants to use its brand and commitment to try and accelerate change across the sector," explains Eurostar CEO Gwendoline Cazenave.


Eurostar is taking responsibility for reducing its own emissions and environmental?footprint to ensure that every one of its passengers is transported at the lowest possible environmental cost. "We are building the backbone of sustainable travel in Europe, committed to building the mode of international transport?that has the least negative impact on the planet."


Customs & Regulations

New free trade?agreement?between the EU and New Zealand:

This agreement gives companies, farmers and producers duty-free access to almost all trade between the EU and New Zealand, regardless of the products involved.


The economic component, although the most important, is not the only result of the negotiations, as the agreement also includes commitments concerning: compliance with the rules imposed by the Paris Agreement on climate and labor rights, animal welfare, sustainable development, food safety...


The aim of the EU/New Zealand free trade agreement is?to develop trade between the 2 countries, still at a modest level last year, i.e. 9.1 billion euros for goods and 3.5 billion euros for merchandise, in both directions.
