Weekly Market Review

Guardian of the Wealth of the Most Productive People on Earth | Creating, Protecting and Distributing Wealth for Clients
Good afternoon,
Grazie mille for the many readers who have offered kind words and encouragement, and patience, as I learn the various systems and tools at my new broker/dealer. Things are moving along nicely, though never as quickly or smoothly as we hope.
Many of you have called, thank you.? Please continue to reach out if you have any questions/concerns/issues/problems/opportunities/introductions/etc. Use my cell phone, 248-933-4339, but no texts please.
?“Mike, you didn’t write that email last week, did you?”
Good catch. If you mean that announcement email about my change of firms, no I did not. That was generated by the company and included some mandatory disclosures and I did review it, but it wasn’t in my own words. I did write the WMR. Whether you enjoy it or not, the WMR is always my words and my opinion alone. Please pass it along.
?
“Is your new email address Macho?”
It is. That’s also my nickname at the golf course. And the license plate frame on my car.
?
?And a hit song by the Village People, https://youtu.be/yxxj73JCV4Q?si=PTKqz-29UARb-4Qi
?
And the nickname of one of the greatest WWF Superstars of all time, Macho Man Randy Savage,
?
?One bright side to changing email addresses is that I’ve reduced much of the spam I was getting, and it was a lot. At least for now.
?
?
?Or it isn’t. Markets have pulled back a bit since my move, for which I will not take credit. Markets do what markets do regardless of where Macho makes his calls from.
“But Mike, there’s so much going on out there. Tariffs, interest rates job cuts, wars, egg prices.”
That’s all true, but as I’m fond of saying, Everything Is Different, But Nothing Has Changed.
Everything we’re experiencing now are things we’ve experienced before. We’ve gotten through it all in the past and we will do so again. In fact, volatility and uncertainty often provide important opportunities that don’t exist when things are calm.
?
?Speaking of timing, unless you file for an extension, there’s only about a month left to file your tax returns for 2024. Aside from some potential retirement plan contributions for last year, there isn’t much you can do now to reduce your 2024 tax bill. When tax season is over, let’s get your tax person on the phone and discuss some tax reduction strategies we can employ going forward for 2025 and beyond.
?
?As a protein enthusiast, I was skeptical of this plan from the beginning, and now my suspicions have been validated. That whole plant based meat thing isn’t working out so well. Or at least that’s what this article says, https://cnb.cx/3FrVo2W
Color me unsurprised. Highly processed, seed oil based, alleged meat like substance isn’t popular or good for you? Who’d have thought? I would have. I still think so.
I’ve often joked with my friends that they discovered a machine that turns plants into meat many years ago, it’s called a cow. And it’s very effective and efficient.
On that note, how excited was I this week when one of my favorite local markets put everything in their meat department on sale 20% off? That’s a good day for Macho.

This week’s comedian review is Andrew Schulz’s latest Netflix special “Life.” I’ve reviewed Andrew’s specials before, he’s had several. I also reviewed his live show which I attended last year at Caesar’s Windsor. Andrew has been near the top of my favorites list for a while now. I like his work a lot. I enjoyed his other specials and enjoyed his live show. I also really liked this latest effort. Andrew is very funny, his mind works quickly, and his delivery is fast and furious. Fair warning, much of his material is NSFW and there is some profanity. Not over the top or gross, but let’s call it colorful. This newest special centers around he and his wife’s efforts to get pregnant and all the procedures and processes involved therein. Told in Andrew’s inimitable fashion, I found myself LOL’ing often. If you don’t mind the language, I recommend this special as well as his other work. Some of his funnier bits from over the years are floating around the internet and he also has a popular podcast “Flagrant.” No links in my family friendly newsletter, but I suggest checking him out.

?
?And finally, here is your friendly reminder that my half hour virtual office hour is back this Friday. Hop on at noon and ask me anything.

This week’s chuckle is 90 seconds of Caddyshack, the Cinderella story scene. Bill Murray improvised the entire scene in one take after director Harold Ramis gave him a single instruction. He told him to pretend he was a commentator narrating his own performance.
Safe for work.

Have a great week and stay healthy.
