Weekly LinkedIn Tips on my YouTube Channel

Weekly LinkedIn Tips on my YouTube Channel

November 21st will make one year since I launched my YouTube channel with weekly LinkedIn tips.

Every year on my birthday, I push myself to step out of my comfort zone and launch something new.

The birthday launch trend started 10 years ago when I launched my organization The Expat Woman .

Luckily my birthday is almost at the end of the year. So it gives me enough time to procrastinate and work on the product, service or course that I plan to launch.

So I had 11 months last year to waffle and worry and finally work on creating content for my YouTube channel.

I am not very comfortable being in front of the camera. In face I studied film for a bit as I was interested in being behind the camera. I don't like the way I look and sound, I am afraid about making a fool of myself, I worry about what people will say. Basically impostor syndrome.

The first time I did a video recording of myself on my phone. So many takes!

But the pros of being on YouTube far outweigh the cons.

  • If my clients or folks in my network have a question about a LinkedIn feature and I have a video that covers it, I can share a link with them.eg I host events and create events on LinkedIn regularly. I always encourage my guests and speakers to share the event and invite relevant folks in their LinkedIn network to attend. I have a video that walks them through these steps, so I include a link to it in my message or emails to them.

  • As I create regular content on a topic that truly lights me up, I am constantly learning and elevating my LinkedIn skills.

  • I am looking to build my personal brand as a LinkedIn coach and trainer. As YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine in the world, this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase my expertise.
  • I hope this will generate leads and new clients.

I have created 50+ plus videos on LinkedIn since I kicked off my channel last November. I have 1.3K subscribers but my engagement is still very low. As an entrepreneur I know things like this take time and patience, consistency and adding value is key.

This is first video or introduction on YouTube.

If you are nervous about being on camera, maybe this will video will inspire you - me in the raw on Zoom. No microphone, no script, just a green screen, no fancy graphics, just a couple of lights and my trusty laptop.

I am still learning how to leverage YouTube and hope to get more strategic with time.

Here is my most popular video to-date, and one of my favorites too.

How not to post and ghost on LinkedIn

And here are the videos for August. I post a new LinkedIn tip every Thursday.
