Weekly LatAm Tech Careers (#1)

Weekly LatAm Tech Careers (#1)

Exciting news - starting today, Rodrigo Gai?o and I will kick off weekly briefs straight from the Latin American startup scene. Through our roles at AheadX, the premier executive recruiting agency for startups - we're constantly chatting with the movers and shakers—founders, CEOs, and investors—who are forging the path in tech and business in the region.

Each week, we'll drop the top reads, companies to watch, discussions, and prime opportunities we've spotted. Whether you're eyeing for a startup or just staying in the loop -? our updates will give you the edge you need to stay ahead of the LatAm Talent landscape.

Key themes for this week:

#1 Tech hubs in LatAm: We are noticing an uptick in U.S. tech hub investments in Latin America. Why do we think so? Not only because salaries in places like SF/ NY are off the charts, but coordinating across time zones with Europe and APAC is a nightmare. Latin America is just right—great time zones and a booming tech talent pool thanks to giants like MercadoLibre, Nubank,? iFood, among many others. It’s not just about saving costs; it's about tapping into a vibrant, growing market. Pretty smart, right?

  • Our spotlight this week goes to DoorDash : the pre-IPO food delivery US giant is setting up its Trust & Safety engineering team in Brazil to enhance platform safety, using AI to preemptively resolve conflicts. It's cool that, like Uber, DoorDash is building those global tech functions in Brazil, despite not having local operations around here (yet?).Where to find the roles? Here . Who to follow to stay tuned? Demetrius Nunes their Tech lead in BR.

#2 New companies coming to LatAm: We stumbled upon Jeeves , a promising fintech startup, with HQ in Miami, deciding to expand into Latin America, due to the region's growing startup ecosystem, the rise of second-time, risk-tolerant founders, and an increase in investment capital. As our region also still lacks robust banking infrastructure, it makes a key market for their financial services portfolio, which supports businesses with tools like multi-currency corporate cards and expense management. Jeeves has partnered with Latitud to strengthen the tech ecosystem and support entrepreneurs in the region.

  • Read their announcement post and the interesting roles they are hiring for Here. Our role spotlight goes to General Manager, Brazil - as many other opportunities normally follow after landing this key one.

#3 Executive Moves:

  • Phil Chaves , after solid runs in tech companies such as Google, Facebook/Instagram, Uber and Twitch, just announced landing as Vice President, Brazil for Epsilon - a giant in global advertising and marketing technology within Publicis Group. ?They are hiring for Sales in Brazil (Open roles here ) and MX (here ).
  • Stefano Mazzafero , was announced as the first Brazilian to become country Manager of inDrive. In this role, he takes charge of a comprehensive operation that operates in over 160 cities across all 27 states of Brazil, with previous experience in companies such as Kovi and 99.?They are in the search for a Country Manager in MX and Ops specialist in S?o Paulo.

#4 Companies getting more funds

  • [BR] Zigfun - The Global Fun Tech? That's right, their payments power many nightclubs you probably gone to. They raised $110 million in a round led by the funds Cloud9, Across Capital, and Endeavor Scale-Up Ventures. Hiring devs, sales and ops in Brazil (Open roles here )
  • [BR] CUB - The newest fintech in the real estate market has just raised R$14 million from Alexia Ventures. We haven't found any open roles over there yet, but you may want to turn your job alert on for this one (here )
  • [ARG] - Yet Another Company, blockchain fintech looking to tackle the giant derivatives market, raised $20M in Early Stage VC led by HackVC. We haven't found any open roles and we will be watching this one very closely.

#4 Early stage startups we are watching:

  • Nuvia: John Paz , Filipi Assis , Manuel Soria are setting up to disrupt B2B Sales with AI and are building their engineering team. They are on the look for a Principal Engineer (role here ).
  • Harley AI: Laura Dubugras is building something cool in AI/healthtech with HarleyAI - The AI personal trainer and is hiring a Backend Engineer! You have to complete an exercise (here ), apply at [email protected] .
  • Makers: Andres Bilbao (Rappi Co-Founder) is looking for a Placements Head for Makers - an incubator of future tech leaders in ou region, sounds an ideal opportunity for a headhunter passionate about startups with good command of English and Spanish. Application (here ).

#4 Other areas we are seeing big talent demand:

  • Many assets, banks and funds are boosting their credit investments in Non-Performing Loans (NPL's) and distressed assets particularly in the Agribusiness Sector. This trend is creating a wave of opportunities in related businesses, law practices and tech solutions to streamline those processes. It may be a good time to specialize in this area.
  • Key spotlight: OKT is being built backed by the renowned strategic solutions and special situations fund Lumina Capital.
