What’s on our minds this week:

HEALTH SYSTEMS

We're keeping a close watch for a potential upcoming announcement from the White House related to hospital reporting on COVID-19 cases. Per this WSJ article, the administration is expected to announce additional steps to gauge the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and could begin to call out hospitals with COVID-19 data missing from the federal reporting system. If those gaps are not resolved, hospitals risk losing Medicare and Medicaid payments.

We expect this new rule could create new confusion and risk another negative news cycle for some hospitals and healthcare systems, who are already facing a very challenging operational and financial environment. Our issues management team is already hard at work to ensure hospitals are prepared to address this when the time comes, and we'll share more insight as more information is revealed.
