American Express and Worldpay have signed a new agreement which makes it even easier for small businesses to welcome loyal and high-spending American Express Cardmembers.

The agreement is part of a continued strategic approach by American Express to fuel the company’s momentum in the UK and expand the number of locations where its Cardmembers can spend. In the UK, the total number of Amex accepting locations has grown by 46% over the past three years.

Payments business Mangopay was launched in 2013. Two years later it was acquired by French bank Crédit Mutuel Arkéa and in 2022 was purchased by private equity firm Advent International.

The takeover of Nethone followed, adding cybercrime protection to Mangopay's suite of services, and this was itself followed by the purchase of Irish payments startup WhenThen.

Anzi, based in Madrid and Bogotá, marks a milestone in the financial world by introducing its innovative solution of tokenized guarantees specifically designed for FinTechs focused on the SME segment.

PAYMENTS

Rome offers open loop transit payments to UnionPay cardholders. The service, which is already available to passengers with Mastercard, Visa, and American Express cards, has already been extended and is currently active for UnionPay cardholders.?

CRYPTO

Revolut officialy launched a standalone crypto trading platform, called Revolut X, for UK retail customers. The launch of Revolut X follows the firm’s introduction of Revolut Ramp in March.

Kraken expands European footprint with German partnership. A new strategic partnership that enables us to actively enhance our product offering in Germany, a key market for European crypto adoption.

Bitpanda, Europe's largest crypto platform, is expanding into the Middle East with the launch of Bitpanda MENA. Through Bitpanda Technology Solutions (BTS), the company aims to provide trading infrastructure for banks, FinTechs, and brokers in the region, enabling them to offer their trading solutions.

Fundcraft raises €5 million Series A investment. The funds will be used for product development and to fuel fundcraft’s international expansion. Fund administration is a large, growing market that is ripe for disruption.

Danske Bank has acquired a stake in the Danish company United FinTech, thereby avoiding the need to develop all digitalization programs in-house.

London’s iwoca secures £270M funding to support one million small businesses. It takes the total investment for iwoca to more than £1 billion, followed by a £200m in funding from Barclays and V?rde Partners in October last year.

UK AI-led FinTech Abound announces new funding round of £0.8bn to increase access to fair credit, expanding total funding to up to £1.3bn London headquartered FinTech.

M&As

Turkey-based payment FinTech iyzico, the local arm of PayU, acquired peer local payment services provider Paynet ?deme for a consideration of USD 87m, which will be adjusted at the time of closing, as per a public disclosure platform announcement.

Fime acquired by Gallant Capital. Gallant says that operating under the Fime brand, the combined business will be a global leader in payments, smart mobility and digital identity.


MOVERS & SHAKERS

Mangopay Appoints Ariel Shoham As Vice President Of Risk Product. Shoham, who will lead a team of product experts specialising in risk, joins during a period of growth for Mangopay as the company scales, expanding its product offering to address the needs of the rapidly-growing B2C and B2B platforms.?
