1. $491m deal signed - HH hails Zambia farm-to-market grant by USA

President Hakainde Hichilema witnessed the signing of a US$491.75 million Farm-to-Market Compact grant from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), which he says aligns with the New Dawn government's economic reconstruction agenda."

2. World Vision to provide 6,000mt relief maize

World Vision Zambia will this year provide about 6,000 metric tons of relief maize and cash to 490,069 people in 16 districts countrywide to supplement Government’s efforts in addressing food shortages caused by the drought.

3. Govt inks 10 contracts for markets, bus stations

Government is set to spend over K166 million to build markets in selected parts of the country and extend four bus stations in Eastern Province. Construction of some of these infrastructural projects has been funded with support of KfW, a German development bank.

4. Funds go to developmental programmes, public service delivery

Govt, through the Ministry of Finance, last month disbursed K15.9bn to fund developmental prog. & public service delivery. Of the money released, K5.1bn was for transfers, subsidies & social benefit, & K1.9bn for implementation of various developmental prog. & general operations

5. Funds to finish building 8 stalled school infrastructures

The European Union (EU) has given Zambia €20 million (about K580 million) to finish building eight stalled school infrastructures before the end of next year.

6. Chipata town clerk, head buyer appear before EFCC

Chipata Town Clerk Aaron Kamalondo and head of procurement at the local authority Harriet Mwape have appeared before Economic and Financial Crimes Court (EFCC) on three counts relating to the awarding and cancellation of a contract under Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
