Startup Spotlight:

Startup:?Raptee????

What they do:?Raptee is a full-stack electric motorcycle manufacturer with a strong technological moat that has been developed indigenously. The company has filed 45+ patents so far. Raptee is the first Indian electric two-wheeler OEM to introduce high-voltage drive train technology, along with an onboard charger, thereby making it compatible with the existing CCS2 public charging network, which is growing fast in India and across the globe.

Why they're different: The heart of Raptee.HV is its HV Tech battery, built on a high-voltage architecture. The main advantage of HV-Tec is the less heat generation during operation. HV-Tec is innately performance-driven, more stable, and more reliable. This is why, globally, cars have shifted to High Voltage Technology and are seeing successful acceptance. HV-TEC naturally integrates Raptee.HV motorcycles into the extensive electric car charging ecosystem. Raptee. HV’s T30 is the only motorcycle in India, compatible with CCS2 car charging stations.

Funding Status: Raptee has raised $3 million in a pre-Series A round led by deeptech VC fund Bluehill Capital in Sept' 2023.

Industry Focus:

EV Tech:

The electric vehicle (EV) industry is revolutionizing the automotive industry with every passing day. EVs offer a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative fuel vehicle by reducing carbon emissions. This industry has always been at the forefront of delving into new technologies, and innovations and facing challenges related to the EV sector, hence playing an important role in modern-day transportation.

EV technology involves the substitution of internal combustion engines with electric motors and batteries. These electric motors convert electrical energy stored within the vehicle into mechanical power, propelling it forward. The batteries store and release the required electrical energy to power the motor. In addition, EV technology includes regenerative braking, which captures braking energy and feeds it back to the battery, and advanced control systems that optimize power consumption.

Understanding the various types of electric vehicles is essential for appreciating the versatility and adaptability of EV technology. Each type caters to different needs and preferences, making EVs accessible to a broader audience:

BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles): Operate solely on electric power stored in batteries and emit no pollutants.

HEVs (Hybrid Electric Vehicles): Combine a petrol/diesel engine with an electric motor and battery, allowing for improved fuel efficiency.

PHEVs (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles): Can run on both gasoline and electricity, with the ability to recharge the battery by plugging into an electric power source.

FCEVs (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles): Use hydrogen fuel cells to generate electricity, emitting only water vapor as a by-product.
