Bursa Malaysia Issues Show-Cause Notice to Pertama Digital for Missing Regularisation Plan Deadline
Pertama Digital Bhd has received a show-cause notice from Bursa Malaysia Securities for failing to submit its regularisation plan by the deadline of February 9. The company had sought an extension until February 2026, but Bursa Malaysia rejected the request, citing a lack of material progress. Pertama now has five market days to explain why its shares should not be suspended or delisted. The company plans to respond by March 14. Pertama operates the MyPay app and eJamin website. Its stock has declined 45% this year and over 95% in the past year.
Japan Sets New Sustainability Reporting Standards to Align with Global Frameworks
Japan’s Sustainability Standards Board (SSBJ) has introduced its first Sustainability Disclosure Standards, aligning with the ISSB’s IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards. The framework includes three key components: General Disclosures, Climate-related Disclosures, and an Application Standard, ensuring international comparability. These standards are expected to apply to companies listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s Prime Market, reinforcing transparency in ESG reporting. The ISSB welcomed Japan’s initiative, highlighting its contribution to global sustainability efforts. While the full standards are currently in Japanese, an English overview will be published soon, supporting Japan’s transition toward harmonised corporate sustainability reporting.
The King Praises Government Efforts to Attract Foreign Investment and Strengthen the Digital Economy
His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, commended the government’s initiatives to boost foreign investment in the high-tech and digital sectors. He emphasised the need for strengthening digital infrastructure, enhancing cybersecurity, and adopting advanced technologies. Addressing Parliament, he urged improvements in government services to reduce corruption and bureaucracy. His Majesty expressed satisfaction with Malaysia’s economic growth and called for inclusive benefits. He also highlighted the importance of Bumiputera economic participation. The Dewan Rakyat session will last 18 days, while the Dewan Negara session will commence on 3 March for 13 days.
