Penang has launched the Penang Chip Design Academy to strengthen its integrated circuit (IC) design and digital sectors. This initiative aligns with the state's forthcoming STEM Talent Blueprint, scheduled for launch in June. The academy aims to provide comprehensive design development, focusing on upskilling and reskilling through academic training and hands-on experience. It will be managed by the Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC) in collaboration with InvestPenang, industry players, and academia. The academy supports Penang’s IC Design and Digital Park, positioning the state as a prime investment destination for design and digital businesses. Penang hosts 18 of Malaysia’s 20 semiconductor IC design companies.
