A relatively quite week for AI, as we roll into 2024.
OpenAI finally announced that it will launch its GPT store next week. This is an industry shaping news, if successful, and could spell out the long-term transition from App Stores to AI-based Stores like the GPT store. Basically, anyone can create their own customised GPTs, and then list them on the store to earn money, much like what developers do with apps on the App Store or Google Play. The big difference is that one can create an app with natural language, I created my own Tech Whisperer GPT in a few? minutes. While the GPT Store was delayed by a month, and it is still not very compelling, OpenAI still seems to be innovating at an ?astonishing speed. If successful, it is one more big move to transition us from the Internet era to the AI era.
India might?ament its IT Act to account for the issues caused by Generative AI and AI like bias, deepfakes, data plagiarism and copyright, etc. This will be an interesting move, since most countries are contemplating a stand-alone AI Act, and the EU has announced the same. India is taking an interesting approach to modify an existing Act to do this. It is a timely move, given the 2024 National Elections there, and the high probability of the abuse of AI with deepfakes, etc. to influence the elections.

Finally, Intel jumps deeper into the GenAI space. It is already furiously designing chips for AI and GenAI to break Nvidia’s stranglehold. But it has also decided to ‘migrate higher onto the GenAI stack’ with? a spinoff called Articul8 AI (an abbreviation of “Articulate AI”). This entity builds off a proof-of-concept from an Intel collaboration with 波士顿谘询公司 early last May. ?Chip companies are eyeing going beyond infrastructure, with Nvidia also aggressively pushing its cloud services, threatening the near monopoly of the Big Three (AWS, 微软 , 谷歌 ) in that space.
The space is certainly heating up….at warp speed.
