In technology, there are decades where nothing happens. And then there are weeks where decades happen. In the last few months, technology seems to be moving at warp speed. To make some sense out of this, I pick three to five stories every week which are the most significant of all.
So here is the Weekend Warp:
One of the most awaited IPOs in recent years was that of chip designer ARM in Nasdaq. Market analysts had fretted that Softbank is over-valuing the company but did not reckon with the enthusiasm that the market has on AI and GenAI related companies.
ARM had a spectacular listing and spiked 25% on valuation. It seems that NVidia is not the only chip company riding the Generative AI tidal wave. Read more on Reuters - Link below:
Talking of Nvidia, its motorcycle jacked-clad rockstar CEO Jensen Huang was in India, and pronounced it a key market for the company.? He talked about how India will need tens of thousands of GPUs, and inked deals with Reliance and Tata to build out the companies prospects in India.

Interestingly, five years ago, Jensen Huang personally hand delivered the first NVIDIA DGX AI supercomputer to a startup, which was none other than OpenAI!

Since we are on OpenAI, another company focused on it is Google. It is rumoured to be launching its ChatGPT /GPT4 killer, Gemini, very soon and has given some experts early access.
