Salesforce Announces End of Support for Workflow Rules & Process Builder

Farewell old friend… We have a departure date, and that date is December 31, 2025. While this may feel a long way off, if you haven’t yet migrated your automation processes to Flow Builder, now really is the time! Otherwise, you could end up going it alone without customer support.?

Overall, this is a very welcome move from Salesforce as the platform aims to provide a more modern, extensible, low-code automation solution in the form of Flow Builder. Here’s what you have to look forward to:?

  • Functionality that improves high-volume automation, such as Fast Field Updates (Before Save).
  • Powerful error handling and debugging.
  • Repeatable and reusable functionality such as the use of Subflows.
  • Additional features such as Screen Flows.

Yes please!

Advanced Flow Concepts for Salesforce Professionals

Once you’ve mastered the basics of everyone’s favorite declarative automation tool, it’s time to tackle some of the more advanced areas of Salesforce Flow:?

  1. Subflows: Flows launched by another flow – built specifically with actions and functionality that are required across multiple flows, these will benefit your business by ensuring you don’t need to build the same functionality in multiple places.
  2. HTTP Callouts: Used to send or receive data from your flow to an external system, callouts allow you to create simple integrations between Salesforce and other tools.?
  3. System Context: Buried in the Advanced Menu in your Flow Properties is an option to select how the flow will run. This is where you can run your flows in “System Context” and either enforce sharing rules or exclude them – proceed with caution!?
  4. Flow Access: Each flow can be configured so that it’s exposed only to users with specific profiles or permission sets, giving admins the ability to grant granular access.
  5. Custom Components: Consider using Lightning Web Components to expand, create, and customize your flows.

How flow can you go??
