Weekend Laundry Leads to $1,100 Sewer Line Repair

Rick P. of Gaithersburg, Maryland was doing his typical weekend laundry chore on a nippy winter day, when he noticed something was amiss.?

“The water from the washing machine wasn’t draining, even though the cycle was through,” he said. “Then, I noticed a pool of water on the basement shower’s floor and thought, ‘we’ve definitely got a problem here.’”?

“The customer experience is consistently pleasant – I call HomeServe, and someone local to me was sent out the next day.”

Luckily for Rick, he has been a customer of HomeServe for close to a decade. Backups like this typically point to a problem with a home’s exterior sewer line, which Rick has covered for by one of the repair plans available in his area.?

“The customer experience is consistently pleasant – I call HomeServe, and someone local to me was sent out the next day,” said Rick. “From there, they were able to take a look at things.”?

This wasn’t Rick’s first time calling HomeServe for a covered repair. He’s saved thousands of dollars using the various repair plans he has as a customer, including several occurrences in the past with his sewer line. This time, a plumbing technician from Haynes Plumbing and Heating arrived at his Gaithersburg residence and got to work to diagnose the source of the issue.?

After sending a snake down the main sewer line to dislodge any clogs, the plumber was able to move debris that was believed to be the problem. They came back out another time a few weeks later to run the snake one more time, and Rick’s line has been flowing freely ever since.?

“I was relieved to know there was no need for a line replacement at this time, and that my issue was taken care of promptly with little inconvenience to me or to my wife,” said Rick. “The plans from HomeServe are really well worth it in my opinion.”?

Rick first enrolled in repair plans from HomeServe after he heard about them from his local utility nearly a decade ago. He told us that he plans to keep the plans for as long as he and his wife remain in their home.?

“The plans have proved to be very helpful to us over the years, especially in recent years since I’m fully retired,” said Rick. “It’s been great to have.”?

I hate laundry, but nothing is worse than having a full load and the washer refuses to drain. Then, you're wringing out wet clothes and bailing water. The worst!
