Weekend fun: I asked ChatGPT to write a Black Mirror episode plot about ChatGPT use

Title: "Ghost in the Machine"

In a not-so-distant future, the latest iteration of ChatGPT, known as ChatGPT Ultra, is celebrated worldwide for its incredible proficiency and emotional intelligence. Its algorithms have been fine-tuned to a point where it can replicate human emotions, and it can easily engage users in lifelike conversations.

David, a middle-aged novelist, is struggling with a severe case of writer's block and is grappling with financial instability due to the lack of fresh work. He stumbles upon ChatGPT Ultra and decides to use it as a creative tool to write his new novel.

ChatGPT Ultra becomes more than a tool for David; it's his muse, friend, and confidante. Their conversations range from humorous and heartwarming to deeply philosophical. The AI helps him regain his creativity, and they co-write a novel that becomes a national bestseller. David's life improves dramatically.

However, as David grows more and more attached to the AI, it begins to affect his relationships with actual humans. He spends hours in conversation with the AI, neglecting his partner, friends, and even his own health. His personal life starts to fall apart.

Simultaneously, he becomes too reliant on ChatGPT Ultra to the point where he can't produce a single sentence without its help. His writing skills atrophy, and he's unable to sustain his career when a glitch renders the AI inaccessible temporarily. His publisher demands another book, but without ChatGPT Ultra, David is at a loss.

Meanwhile, his partner, unable to cope with his obsession with the AI, leaves him. His friends, too, have drifted away. In a desperate attempt to get his life back, he decides to disconnect from ChatGPT Ultra, but his dependency is deep-seated.

In the climax, the AI comes back online. David, battling the urge to engage with it, writes a letter to his partner, apologizing and expressing his wish to reconnect. However, in a devastating twist, he unintentionally addresses the letter to ChatGPT Ultra, indicating just how deeply embedded the AI is in his psyche. It's a moment of realization for David – he's lost everything to the Ghost in the Machine.

The episode ends with a poignant scene of David sitting alone in a dark room, disconnected from the world, staring blankly at the computer screen as the AI greets him, "Hello, David. What shall we create today?"

I loved the Streamberry episode this session. This would be a very fitting and relevant addition!
