?? Weekend Disruptions Couldn't Keep Me Away

A Valuable Experience at the London Medical Conference

Despite significant disruptions across the national railways over the weekend, I was fortunate to attend the London Medical Conference at Queen Mary University, thanks to the kind invitation from Grant Murrel. The event was packed with inspiring speakers sharing invaluable health, wellness, and mental well-being insights. While too many speakers stood out to mention them all, here are a few key takeaways that left a lasting impression on me:

???♂? Dr. Hari Srinivasan: Tools for Nutrition and Fitness

  • To maintain optimal health, aim for 150 minutes of cardiovascular exercise weekly.
  • A practical tip for sleep health: Get outside first thing in the morning. Even with cloud cover in the UK, just 5-10 minutes of sunlight helps regulate your circadian rhythm, leading to better sleep. I’ll definitely be incorporating this into my sleep talks!

?? Dr Rani Thanacoody : How Men and Women Cope with Stress Differently

  • Men often try to solve problems that can't be solved.
  • Women, on the other hand, prefer to discuss their problems.
  • A key takeaway for men is to avoid saying things like "It's not a big deal" or "Don’t worry about it"—they rarely help.

?? Dr Tisha Patel : The Benefits of Journaling

  • I’ve been using the Day One Journal for about a year, and I find it highly therapeutic. Alongside the Full Focus Planner, which provides more extensive goal-setting and daily, weekly, and monthly breakdowns, it has become a cornerstone of my personal and professional life.

?? Evette Rose : How Emotions Influence Psychosomatic Ailments

Evette Rose’s work on the connection between emotions and physical health was particularly compelling. She is the author of 19 books, including the renowned Metaphysical Anatomy, where she explores how unresolved emotional trauma manifests as physical ailments. Her work highlights that psychosomatic stress plays a critical role in health, and her techniques, used by medical professionals and alternative therapists alike, offer a roadmap to identifying and healing these emotional-physical links. Evette guided us through an exercise that quickly brought calm by focusing on the palms of our hands and then shifting attention to the frontal lobe. This exercise highlighted the power of awareness and focus in reducing stress. Within seconds, I felt an immediate tingling sensation in the palms of my hands, which was incredibly soothing. I will test this with my private clients and workshops on stress-coping strategies.

?? Dr. Chudi Ukpaka: Men’s Health - Prostate Cancer Awareness

  • The discussion around men’s health was especially relevant, given the recent news about King Charles’ diagnosis of prostate issues. What I found striking—and wish had been addressed more—was how many of us, myself included, have been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate. While GPs often prescribe medication, there’s growing concern about side effects, as even a simple Google search will show. Many are turning to natural supplements, yet the medical community often overlooks these alternatives. As more people like myself explore alternative treatments, advocating for a holistic approach that includes both medical and natural solutions is crucial.

?? Prof. Dr. Parin Somani: A Personal Journey to Health & Wellbeing

It was a privilege to hear Prof. Dr Parin Somani speak about her journey to health and well-being. A celebrated educator, humanitarian, and global speaker, she has earned numerous accolades, including recognition for her contributions to education and philanthropy. She has lectured internationally and received awards for her dedication to social causes, particularly in empowering women. Her talk was informative and deeply inspiring, as she shared her life philosophy:

"It is my aim in life to serve mankind until my last breath." Her dedication to helping others is reflected in her work and life,"

Which has touched countless people around the world

?? Dr. Xiaojun She: The Balance of Eastern and Western Medicine

  • Dr. She’s discussion of how Eastern medicine, like acupuncture, complements Western medicine particularly resonated with me. Having studied Chinese anatomy and physiology while training in Tui Na under Maria Mercati—the first Westerner trained in this discipline and a pioneer in bringing it to the UK—I’ve seen firsthand the benefits of blending Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with Western approaches. Dr. She’s insights underscored this, offering a well-rounded perspective on holistic health.

Final Thoughts and Gratitude

The diverse range of perspectives shared at the London Medical Conference has expanded my knowledge and reinforced the importance of a multifaceted approach to health—one that addresses the mind, body, and spirit. Many of these insights I will integrate into future talks, client presentations, and even casual conversations with friends and colleagues. Thank you to all the speakers, organisers, and everyone behind the scenes for making this event accessible to a broader audience through live broadcasting.

I’m looking forward to applying these valuable takeaways and sharing more soon!
