When I'm introducing new Kingdom Concepts in Mussar small group courses, or inviting someone to simply stroll with me through particular passages in The Orchard of God's Word, I challenge them to go beyond simply 'reading' the Text, but to DEEPLY CONSIDER The Word (in Context). As we know, 'Text without Context is Pretext'.
Consider The Word.
Intentionally considering the Word, sitting in The Word, fellowshipping with Messiah (The Word), is the process of learning to see yourself...really SEE yourself. It is to gain an all-encompassing Kingdom Vision greater than your 'self', and now places self within the narrative arc of The Divine Mission taking place 'on earth as it is in Heaven'.
This is The Perfecting Pause. This is The Grace Space.
After all, Yeshua our Messiah taught us the GREATEST COMMANDMENT is 'to love (give!) The LORD God with our ENTIRE MINDS' (See The Shema from Deuteronomy 6). Recently, I wrote about the Hebrew word 'love' being AHAVA, meaning 'I Give'. Loving is GIVING by God's definition. In context, The Greatest Commandment then, is TO GIVE THE LORD GOD our entire minds. The Greatest Commandment!
[Heart and mind are the same word in Hebrew: lev ???]
What does 'GIVING The LORD God YOUR *entire mind' look like for you in practice on a daily basis?
“Rabbi, which of the mitzvot in the Torah is the most important?” 37?He told him, “‘You are to love Adonai your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.’ 38?This is the greatest and most important mitzvah. 39?And a second is similar to it, ‘You are to love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40?All of the Torah and the Prophets are dependent on these two mitzvot.” - Matthew 22 (CJB)
