Week (and Year) of Wonders

I want to end this year by telling you a story from a week of wonders. This story is more of a personal compared to more business minded articles I have written recently. I've had so many new insights and revelations this year so it will take some time to reflect what really happened this year.

I did not expect any special events for the first week of December, but boy I was wrong. The week turned out to be a true week of wonders where I travelled from the shadows to the light and then to experience true creative genius and finally ended up talking with the spirits of the forest. The week in many ways sums up this year.

On Friday 3rd of December I visited the underworld

My friends at Shadow Room - project organised their 1-year anniversary. Shadow room is a place and initiative to serve alternative, underground and marginal music, culture and creativity. One the best things in Finland is our understanding of the underworld, ability to talk with other worlds, skills to play the guitar and then sing the songs of the shadows.

On Monday the 5th of December I ascended to light

The eve of our independence day (6th of December) my all time favourite band Saimaa organised en empowering, uplifting and again amazing musical extravaganza experience. Saimaa plays progressive rock and they have made amazing versions from some of the most iconic Finnish songs and also their own songs. Saimaa did also the anthem for the Ministry of Good Spirit.

My all time favourite song is not originally made by Saimaa. Let the Sunshine In - was first played at the Hair Musical early 1970s. Saimaa has made made a version of the song in Finnish. Kulje valoon, kulje aurinkoon. From the shadows I had a change to experience of sunshine.

One could be happy for the week if you have been experiencing the shadows and light. But more was coming.

On 8th of December I witnessed creative genius

If Saimaa is my favourite band is Yona - a finish singer and songwriter my all time favourite singer. Her music has given me strength, lifted me up from the sadness, helped me to understand what is love and longing. Her music is just absolutely best there is.

on 10th of December I went to forest

Finland is a land of forest. Forest are made of trees. I love trees. Birches, spruces, pine, aspens, rowans and of course fungi is spectacular ecosystem. Forest ecosystems are the ones we can thank that we breathe. Now winter is here a forest of Finland have gone to sleep. Early next year the they wake up and start preparing for the miracle of life: The Spring.

The week (the year) of wonders took me to shadows, brought me light, showed me emotions and ended in to the forest. The story of one week is the story of this year for Mikko-Pekka

When we can remove the layers blocking our view of what we are facing then we see the magic that emerges from the collaboration between humans and the rest of nature.
