Trinity College Dublin is teaming up with crypto powerhouse Ripple to launch an exciting new blockchain research project. Over the next two years, Ripple will provide $200,000 in funding to the university's Adapt Research Ireland Centre. The goal is to push the boundaries of blockchain tech, tackle crypto security challenges, and develop innovative new fintech solutions. As part of the deal, Trinity will even host its own XRPL validator node to directly contribute to Ripple's decentralized network.
Hitesh Tewari, a professor at Trinity's School of Computer Science, is leading the project and has expressed excitement about the chance for students and staff to tackle real-world problems. One of the projects the group is working on is a decentralized social media platform that gives users more privacy and control over their data. This partnership is a big win for Ireland's thriving blockchain scene, as Trinity will help drive mainstream adoption with educational programs and workshops.
Big changes are happening at the Ethereum Foundation (EF)! co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently announced major leadership transitions that have been in the works for almost a year. This will bring in fresh talent, boost technical expertise, and strengthen ties with the wider Ethereum ecosystem. EF also wants to provide more active support for app developers while upholding core values like privacy and decentralization.?
But Buterin has made it clear EF isn't shifting its principles or trying to become a dominant player, saying “if you want a different vision, you're welcome to start your own thing” and “we are committed to keeping Ethereum a neutral, global platform”.
In other news, Vivek Ramaswamy has resigned from his co-leadership role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This comes just months after his appointment, leaving Elon Musk as the sole head of the federal cost-cutting initiative. Ramaswamy expressed pride in helping launch DOGE but said he's confident Musk and the team can keep streamlining the government. Rumours suggest he's planning to run for Ohio governor, which DOGE's policies prohibit during active membership.
There's also growing tension between Ramaswamy and Musk over DOGE's direction. DOGE itself is facing some criticism, having recently slashed its budget-cutting target from a whopping $2 trillion to a still-ambitious $1 trillion.
