Transportation Nation covers SBTC's disappointment over FMCSA HOS proposal, which suggests the HOS revisions and ELDs do not address the "real safety problem" of paying by the mile and regulating by the clock.
SBTC resubmitted the AIPBA's broker bond exemption application this past week, arguing the $75,000 bond prevents owner-operators and small carriers from launching their own broker division that enables them to cut out big broker middle men. Docket No. FMCSA-2013-0513; RESUBMISSION OF TRANSPORTATION INTERMEDIARY BOND EXEMPTION APPLICATION PURSUANT TO 49 U.S. Code § 31315(b)(3) & 49 CFR 381.317

September 17th HOS Listening Session in DC:
We have been asking FMCSA for weeks now where truckers should park if they wish to attend the Tuesday, September 17th HOS listening session at USDOT Headquarters in DC. They have not responded. You might therefore ask them directly. Here are their email addresses:

We have also suggested MATS would be a better venue and that they should schedule a third session, especially since their GATS Session was poorly attended because they only gave 3 days' notice.

Concealed Carry Magazine's ride along just fell through. They are again looking for a truck driver to show them just how dangerous the job of over-the-road truckers is. This helps our campaign to get the Michael's Law Amendment right to carry interstate bill passed.
