In focus this week (until 7 May 2024 eob): Indirect Tax: how this works in SAP S/4 HANA, including tax digitization (e-invoicing, e-filing, and e-storage) and reporting compliance for VAT.

Please note that in case of indirect taxes, the tax is levied via the price of a good or service. The most important indirect taxes include sales tax and customs amongst others.

Direct taxes are paid directly by the taxpayer or via third parties (this is the case, e.g., with wage tax owed by the employer). The most important direct taxes include income tax, inheritance tax, trade tax, property tax, motor vehicle tax, church tax, and corporation tax amongst others.
