This week: Spain orders new NASAMS systems to modernise air defence capabilities

Our business area Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has signed a contract with the government of Spain for the delivery of the latest generation of the NASAMS air defence system as part of the Spanish Armed Forces air defence modernization programme.

Spain was the first international NASAMS user and the country has operated NASAMS for more than 20 years. Spanish NASAMS units are currently deployed in the Baltics as part of NATO’s Air Shielding Mission. Today there are 13 NATO and partner nations in the NASAMS user group.

A full week of Autonomous Underwater Vehicle demonstrations for Defense Innovation Unit and US Navy

Our business area Kongsberg Discovery (KONGSBERG) successfully completed in-water demonstrations of the HUGIN Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) as part of the commercial evaluation of Large Diameter Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (LDUUV) systems by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and the U.S. Navy.

It was announced in January this year that KONGSBERG was awarded a contract with the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) to rapidly deliver HUGIN Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) capabilities for the U.S. Military. In April a delegation from the U.S came to Horten in Norway for a comprehensive week-long demonstration. It provided the opportunity to showcase systems that reflect KONGSBERG’s unmatched and proven AUV technology developed over the last 30 years.

Boost Indian operations with new facility in Kochi, India

The new Kongsberg Maritime (KONGSBERG) facility will be adjacent to Cochin Shipyard and provide support to projects at the shipyard, support to KONGSBERG customers in the region, and prepare for the future assembly of Kongsberg Kamewa waterjets in India.

The opening of this new KONGSBERG facility adds to the growing Norway-India business ties, boosted by the newly signed EFTA-India trade and economic partnership agreement.
