Twitter statuses???
Twitter have released a live-test of their?new 'Status' feature. For select users in Australia and the US, a pop-up will appear upon opening the Twitter app prompting the addition of a 'status indicator' to tweets before publishing them. There are currently 17 options to choose from, including: 'Hot take', 'Shower thoughts', 'Counting down' and 'Picture of the day'. Is this a feature you would use on?your tweets?
Social media as a news source ??
YouGov have conducted a new study into how online users globally use social media to access news. For those interested, the UK is below the Global?Average (46%) at 25%, with only 2% more 18-33's accessing?news via social media networks compared to those aged 34-49. This is insightful when you note the general trend of countries above the Global Average having a much larger volume of younger users accessing news via social networks, compared to those below the Global Average who have higher percentages of older users.?Geek out on the full chart here.
Facebook shut down live shopping tests??
According?to Facebook, its users are shifting focus to short-form video content which has caused the platform?to announce?they will?cease live shopping tests?as of October 1st 2022. Instead, the focus for FB will be Reels (are we surprised?). Meanwhile, Instagram will continue to test live shopping capabilities, particularly?after the success Douyin (TikTok's?Chinese app) has reported from live commerce.?Douyin has predicted?that live shopping revenue will reach $400 billion in China this year, with users aged 27 and under being the fastest to adapt to live commerce.
