Don't miss this week's headlines:
TikTok is preparing to launch Search Ads
TikTok is doubling down on its efforts to monetize the platform, and rapidly scale its search capacity.
Launched as a beta last year, search ads is now being amped up to compete with Google, which would eat into even more of the search engine's market share.
Over the past year, TikTok has grown rapidly as a search engine with nearly 40% of Gen Z using TikTok and Instagram to access information.
That’s right, TikTok is competing with Google in the search market. Find out how this impacts marketers.
TikTok’s OnlyFans Inspires Series Launch
TikTok has announced that Series, an option for creators to paywall certain content, is coming to the platform.
As per TikTok:
“Developed with our community’s love of sharing authentic stories, expertise and experiences in mind, Series enables eligible creators to post?Collections?of premium content behind a paywall which viewers can purchase for access. One Series can include up to 80 videos, each up to 20 minutes long, giving people a new, longer format to watch their favorite creators and content.”
If successful, Series could expand the field of play for creators, enabling them to post exclusive, paid content for their biggest fans. This could result in creators cross-posting long-form content from YouTube as a means to expand their income.
Twitch relaxed live-streaming exclusivity clause for creators. Will YouTube follow?
YouTube have long been poaching top creators from Twitch. The likes of Valkyrae, Sykunno, DrLupo and more have all made the leap to YouTube, in part to Twitch’s exclusivity clause keeping creators from streaming outside of Twitch.

Twitch has now replaced those rules, allowing partners to stream elsewhere. YouTube doesn’t appear keen to follow that model, though.
Could this see more gaming creators make the jump back over to Twitch?

YouTube’s new multi-language dub tracks are a “giant win” says MrBeast
Following the launch of more dub tracks in more expansive languages and regions, content on YouTube is now much easier to trend in new territories.
Prior to this, creators had to create a separate video with a dubbed-over voice track, which only catered for a single language.?
MrBeast had been following this process for years, uploading dozens of videos to side channels targeted at international audiences.
YouTube’s multi-language audio tracks lets creators add multiple dub tracks in different languages to new and existing videos.
As per MrBeast:
“The beauty is YouTube just connects the dots,” he added. “Once I backed up my whole catalog and drove some Spanish speakers over to the channel, YouTube’s like, ‘Oh, people that speak Spanish like this video. Let’s give it to more people that speak Spanish.’ The next thing you know, every time you upload, the video gets served to 10 million people who speak Spanish.”
