Week Seven

Happy fall, Linkedin-ers! ?? Fall is in full swing at Convoy of Hope. Have you put up your fall decorations yet? Grab a cozy drink and we'll get right into this week's edition of Hope Makes It Happen.

This Week: What it's like to be an astronaut, a California homecoming, and more stories from Morocco.

Space adventure in Australia

Ever wonder if you have what it takes to be an astronaut? ??

At Convoy of Hope's Space Camp, students and families across Gold Coast, Australia, were able to experience space exploration — all from their classroom. The interactive and hands-on activities spark curiosity and foster a love for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

Two students, facing back to back, use virtual reality head sets for a space simulation.

The heart of Convoy of Hope's Space Camp is to bring families together and create an experience that fosters hope beyond their circumstances. We are excited to see these next generation of leaders, activists, and influencers succeed to infinity and beyond. ??

Hope grows in California

Guests participate in a ribbon cutting at the Regional Distribution Center in Sacramento.
“From this place, hope will spread across Sacramento, across the West Coast, and around the world,” said Convoy of Hope founder and president Hal Donaldson. “Every can of soup, every box of cereal that leaves this Regional Distribution Center will carry with it a promise of hope.”?

Last week, Convoy of Hope dedicated its first of several strategically placed regional distribution centers across the country — it marked not only the first of many centers, but a sort of homecoming.

Convoy's mission started with a $300 grocery delivery in Northern California in 1994. Today, it serves more than 500,000 children meals every school day, with over $2 billion worth of supplies distributed and over 200 million people served.

Supporters returned for the dedication to see all the growth we've experienced — check out the recap video here. ?? Regional Distribution Center West Dedication.

The best is yet to come!

Today in Morocco

Moroccan residents distribute essential supplies to families after the earthquake.

Following the powerful Morocco earthquake, Convoy has provided thousands of pounds of supplies including food, water, and hygiene kits to survivors. ?? Access to clean water and bags of groceries make a huge difference for these families as they begin to rebuild their lives.

To share more, here's Convoy's Ryan Grabill on the ground with the latest Morocco response update. Learn more about the response and donate here.
