Today, in Geneva, the UNECE Sustainable Energy Week 2023 begins, and it will continue until 15 September. ?
In Bergen, the Sub-Committee on Fish Trade will take place from 11 to 15 September.?
The XVIII World Water Congress will be held on the theme, ‘Water for All: Harmony between Humans and Nature’. The event aims to promote coordination and balance between the water needs of humans and nature.? The Congress is being organized by the General Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Planning and Design and the China National Committee of the International Water Resources Association. The International Water Resources Association (IWRA) and the Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China are hosting the event.?

Opening of the 78th Annual UN General Assembly (UNGA) running from September 12-30.
Today is the International Day for South-South Cooperation.?
During the noon briefing, the Global Sustainable Development Report 2023?(GSDR) will be launched by the guests Imme Scholz, Co-President of the Heinrich B?ll Foundation and Co-Chair of the Independent Group of Scientists that prepared the GSDR; and Astra Bonini, Senior Sustainable Development Officer, Division for Sustainable Development Goals, UN DESA. The report provides evidence and practical solutions to help decisionmakers overcome impediments to sustainable development.?
Today,?the “Building materials and the climate: Constructing a new future” report will be launched. Published by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Yale Center for Ecosystems + Architecture (Yale CEA), under the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC), the report offers solutions to decarbonize the buildings and construction sector and reduce the waste it generates.?
In the Netherlands, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will launch its 2023 GEM Report in the Netherlands. ?
Today, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) is expected to launch its SDG Insights Report.?

At 11:00 a.m., there will be a hybrid briefing by Damilola Ogunbiye,?Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All?and Co-Chair of UN-Energy, to launch the 2023 progress report on Energy Compacts and preview of announcements expected on scaling up Energy Compacts as a high-impact initiative, to take place on SDG Acceleration Day on 17 September.?
