Progressive?has?edged out?Geico?as the No. 2 auto carrier in the U.S., according to new data for 2022 from the?NAIC. The race was tight, with Progressive topping Geico in personal auto premiums written last year by just $729 million (both carriers topped $38 billion). The competition remains intense and Geico may well recoup the No. 2 spot, considering it plans?big auto rate hikes?this year.

Insurtechs have been in the news recently, and not for good reasons.?Root, which sued its former chief marketing officer for fraud last month,?fired its CFO?last week for violating company policy. And at?Lemonade, the chief business development officer?left abruptly?and the company delayed filing its annual report.

At the same time, insurance companies continue to adapt to new salary disclosure laws.?State Farm, Progressive, Geico and?Allstate?are among the Top 10 carriers that have?disclosed salaries?for jobs in in California.
