Week in Review - June 28, 2023
Welcome to this week’s news brief. Pending?SEC?rules are raising concerns among some business leaders about their boards’ ability to handle governance issues related to key risks, sources tell Agenda. For example, some 40% of C-suite execs said their boards do not understand their company’s climate strategy, according to a survey of 600 business leaders by?PwC?and? The Conference Board. Meanwhile, just three in 10 directors polled by the?National Association of Corporate Directors?and The Wall Street Journal said their boards’ ability to handle a cyber incident is “expert” or “advanced.”
The findings come as boards prepare for pending governance-related rules on climate change and cybersecurity that are slated to be finalized this fall. Sources tell Agenda that directors are beefing up training regimens, recruiting new members and making structural changes to boards to handle rising regulatory expectations.?Read more here.
