A Week to Remember.

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you reflect on it at the end and think about your progress? That was me this week. As I sit and write this here on a Friday afternoon, I’m looking back with confidence that I have set up my business, ScaleTx, for a productive week next week and the weeks beyond. Here is the kicker though, why you want to pay attention. Not everything went right this week, not by a long shot.

Before I get into that, let me enlighten you on why I thought it was a productive week.

  • I had 3 different coffee meet-ups with people from different areas of my professional and personal life. Partners, referral sources, and even members from the SHRM chapter that I co-lead, Detroit SHRM - Michigan’s largest chapter.
  • This week, my client work included deciding on a new HRIS partner and finalizing a brand new bonus plan for the company - both key wins as they enhance their talent experience.
  • I attended two in-person events and I made some great connections. The receptiveness to my advisory business has been met with great appreciation. I take it as an honor when someone asks me for my business card. It’s ok if they never use it or pay any attention to it, when you build real relationships this kind of output counts.
  • My LinkedIn Community, Brand Built, had an awesome guest who taught us all about using ChatGPT to our fullest potential, and I’m even meeting with the guest next week!
  • I met with a marketing consultant who dropped some great ideas that I’m excited about, more to come there.
  • I had lunch with an old client, who is still a great friend, and we talked about business and what our goals are for 2024.
  • Lastly, something cool - I got two more referrals this week!

You’re thinking the same thing I am. That’s a great week, right? Yes, but it had its negatives as well.

  • I had a proposal sitting out there and the client asked to meet one more time before deciding. Bummer!
  • At one of the in-person events, I had someone tell me flat out that weren’t interested in my services, (but later warmed up to the idea).
  • I was sick all day Thursday, so I had to cancel some meetings including a podcast recording. I lost the entire day.

You see, not everything went right this week - but I still chalk it up as productive. It’s all perspective, something I’ve learned to honor and appreciate.

What you can’t leave up to perspective is your talent experience. Your Tx needs to serve everyone in your company, equally, so everyone feels connected to your organization beyond just the transactional. That’s why companies call me, the Small Business HR Advisor. If you're thinking about how to enhance your talent experience at your small business, DM me on LinkedIn or book time using my calendar on my website, scaletx.io
