The past week ended on a high note with a client sharing a testimonial with us on how our reprioritization and internal focus on service delivery has greatly improved his broadcasting services. That client was BAYERO UNIVERSITY, KANO Touring the North western Region of Nigeria this week, I have had inspiring encounters and impactful discussions, each leaving me more energized and committed than the last.?
The week began in Lagos, where I had the privilege of taking the stage at the Eko-Konnect Research and Education Initiative Users Conference 2024. The theme, "Empowering More Women/Young Girls to Do More in Research," resonated deeply with me, and I was honored to shed light on the stark underrepresentation of women in STEM fields globally. Together, we explored actionable steps to bridge this gap, a crucial mission that necessitates collective action and unwavering commitment.
Later that day, I found myself in Kaduna, solidifying a two-year-long partnership with the Kaduna State Media Corporation. Our discussions around their ambitious expansion plans and a tour of their impressive new facility left me confident about the positive impact we can jointly create.
On Wednesday, I and my team had transformative meetings.? We first met with Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa of Kaduna-state-university (KASU) , where we explored the potential of our partnership to bring transformative educational experiences to students. The enthusiasm for collaboration and the shared vision for empowering youth were truly inspiring.?
Seeing first-hand the Ministry Of Business, Innovation and Technology Kaduna State 's inclusive approach to tech training, particularly their efforts to empower women, warmed my heart. A visit to one of the ICT hubs Kad ICT Hub . further solidified my admiration for their dedication to making technology accessible to all.?

To end with, on Tuesday, we paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of ZAZZAU, HRH Ahmad Nuhu Bammalli. It was as though the best was saved for last. We discussed digitization for their ecosystem and how important it is to teach young people and up-skill them in this ever-evolving world. Additionally, the discussion we had added a touch of cultural respect, and I was honored by the Emir’s offer to be my tour guide through the palace.
Thursday in Kano: Driving Nigeria's economic growth through technology was the focal point of the 11th Regular Meeting of the National Council on Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (NCCIDE). Joining forces with fellow delegates, we were led by the Honorable Minister Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani to pay courtesy visits to the Emir of Kano and also toured the Galaxy Backbone's Tier IV Data Center.
I am proud to say, not only does NIGCOMSAT have a satellite orbiting the Earth, but we also manage it from right here in Nigeria, a national asset we can all be proud of. Our broadband connectivity provided the wifi access for all participants at the just concluded ICT council in Kano.
Friday at BAYERO UNIVERSITY, KANO : Positive feedback from their ICT department on our services filled me with pride during my meeting with the Vice Chancellor. We also had campus tour, a live session on BUK FM 98.9, and a glimpse into their agriculture lab.
This week has been a powerful testament to the potential of collaboration and innovation in driving positive change. Witnessing the dedication to empowering women, bridging digital divides, and fostering sustainable development through technology has been truly inspiring. The warm reception and positive feedback from our partners reaffirmed the value we bring to the table, and it fuels our commitment to continue making a difference.
I'm excited to further collaborate with our partners, explore new avenues to empower communities, bridge gaps, and unravel Nigeria's full potential through technology. NIGERIAN COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE LIMITED (NIGCOMSAT) is committed that we provide connectivity to unserved and underserved populations of Nigeria, we re emphasized this in many ways this week.
