Week Recap

Week Recap

Starting with the highlight of the week, we conducted training sessions for various stakeholders who work with us. Wednesday featured a one-day, hands-on KA-band VSAT installation training for our Resellers and Channel Partners. This training session is part of NIGERIAN COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE LIMITED (NIGCOMSAT) ’s drive to build a network of accredited installers across Nigeria and to ensure consistent quality in service delivery. Thursday followed with a training for media personnel and journalists. As I mentioned last week, the training exposed participants to both the theoretical and practical aspects of satellite communication, installation, and commissioning. For the media, it was more targeted to create awareness about the technology they report on. The door remains open if you are interested in becoming a Reseller or Channel Partner of NIGCOMSAT. Courtesy Visit and Facility Tour by The Nigerian Navy

This week at NIGCOMSAT, we had a courtesy visit and facility tour from the Nigerian Navy. It was an absolute honor to welcome the representatives of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and the Chief of Communications and Information Technology at the Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral ZS Muhammad, to NIGCOMSAT Limited. The Chief Information Officer of the Nigerian Navy, along with his directors, deputy directors, and other members of their ICT division, also attended. Discussions focused on how both organizations can collaborate in serving the nation, particularly in areas where NIGCOMSAT can support communications on the move, such as on moving vessels, and provide broad connectivity in difficult-to-reach areas of operations. The visit was followed by a tour of the Network Operations Center, the Satellite Operations Center, and the Broadcasting Operations of NIGCOMSAT.

Training for Media Personnel and Editors

This week involved even more training. We held a one-day session for editors and line editors covering ICT in Lagos. We are doing this to deepen their understanding of the NIGCOMSAT brand and the transformative journey we are undertaking. As the need to create more awareness continues to grow, this training provided an overview of the Nigerian satellite industry and our role in driving technological innovation and connectivity across the nation, especially with the plan to launch a second satellite—NigComSat-2. The Assistant General Manager of the Corporate Affairs Department, Aishatu Ibrahim Bantam , issued certificates of attendance to the participants at the end of the training.
