WEEK RECAP

WEEK RECAP

This week began with a couple of meetings, one of which was with Dr. Madein Oluwatoyin , the Accountant General of the Federation. Our discussions centered around potential collaboration opportunities, and I am confident that this collaboration will be beneficial for both NIGERIAN COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE LIMITED (NIGCOMSAT) and the nation.

On Tuesday, with excitement, I warmly welcomed the newly appointed Executive Directors to their respective roles: Abiodun Attah , now leading technical services; Aisha Abdullahi, handling finance & administration; and Jaiye Awokoya , in charge of marketing & business development.

On Wednesday, I had a series of meetings and interviews that allowed me to see through the minds of individuals eager to contribute to our shared vision. Amidst these engaging conversations, we dedicated time to discussing the intricacies of our ongoing projects, ensuring that every detail aligns with our overarching goals. Additionally, there was a concerted effort to finalize preparations for the deep dive stage of the accelerator program, which starts fully in the coming week.

I had the distinguished honor of being a guest of the US Consular General, Williams Steven. We had a fantastic roundtable discussion exploring the future of digital transformation and AI! It was truly inspiring to exchange ideas alongside the brilliant Rebecca Lissner; Special Advisor to the Vice President for Africa; the Deputy National Security Advisor, Office of the Vice President, United States, Cecily Brewer; Microsoft Country Manager, Nigeria & Ghana, Olatomiwa Williams (M.CIoD) , and other stakeholders in the tech ecosystem.

Did you know that studies by the International Labour Organization (ILO) estimate that closing the digital gender gap could create 27 million new jobs for women globally by 2030? This striking statistic highlights the crucial need for ensuring digital literacy and inclusion for everyone, regardless of background or gender.

Discussions like these remind us that bridging this gap isn't just about having technology, but also about equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge to confidently use the digital world. By doing so, we can unleash the significant potential of women, promoting their economic independence and paving the way for a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.

Extending my work visit to Lagos through Friday, I had the privilege of visiting Mr. Yemi Oshodi , CEO of ICSL Info Connectivity Solutions Limited. They are at the forefront of providing premium broadband network infrastructure and connectivity solutions across Africa, laying a robust foundation for our discussions.

Following this, I paid a visit to Ifeanyi AKOSIONU , the MD at INQ Digital, further broadening my understanding of the digital landscape.

As the week draws to a close, I find myself invigorated by every detail of the experiences and connections I had throughout this week. Looking ahead, I am not only eager but also determined to carry this momentum forward. Here's to more growth, collaboration, and navigating the landscape of innovation and connectivity that lies ahead!

I appreciate your dedication to providing weekly updates, especially considering the demands of a busy schedule. The segment on "discussion exploring the future of digital transformation and AI" particularly caught my attention, as it aligns with my interests as well. Digital transformation and AI hold paramount importance for a country like Nigeria for several reasons. Firstly, they pave the way for significant improvements in efficiency and productivity across various sectors. Moreover, embracing digital transformation and AI can bolster Nigeria's position on the global stage, attract foreign investment, and drive economic growth by fostering innovation and creating new job opportunities in sectors like yours. J’sike.
