Week Recap

This week was more inside out. Recalibrating with the team with numerous internal meetings. Staying ahead of the curve requires being several steps ahead of others, so, this week, like many others, was primarily dedicated to these internal discussions. However, I also welcomed visitations and meetings from stakeholders and partners.
The highlight of the week was the upgrade of our internal Infrastructure. In line with ensuring Service delivery and maintaining continuous technology we upgraded our hub in Abuja to the latest version. Kudos to the Technical services of NIGCOMSAT who worked tirelessly with our partner and vendor ST Engineering iDirect to achieve that.
It will interest you to know that students from SAMI EFENDI International Islamic Schools, Sauka, Abuja, visited NIGERIAN COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE LIMITED (NIGCOMSAT) . If you have been following this space, you would know it is our custom to educate these young minds. Having these pupils come around is usually the best part of my week. The students were shown around the ground station, the control rooms, and the antennas, where they learned about technology and satellite operations. I had the honor of speaking to them, and their energy was truly contagious. We introduced them to communications on the move, among other topics, and made them give examples of the use cases. This visit wouldn't have been possible without their teachers' organization. I say thank you to them. I am super proud and look forward to seeing great engineers and tech-savvy gurus emerge from these students in the near future.
Meeting with the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Multimesh Communication Group of Companies, Godfrey Ohuabunwa , was another interesting part of my week. We discussed how MMC could use the NIGCOMSAT Direct-to-Home (DTH) platform for various applications, potentially revolutionizing their service delivery and expanding their reach. I am excited about the potential collaborations and the positive impact they could have on both our organizations and the nation at large.
We also hosted one of our partners for Project 774, ASOLAR Systems Nigeria Limited to debrief and presentation. We spent the first quarter of the year deploying our solution to 8 states, 45 Local government Areas of the federation as part of this project. The states include; Cross River, Kogi, Imo, Zamfra, Ogun, Sokoto. A key part of that was pairing the solution with green energy consisting of Solar powered batteries as an alternative power source for a reliable and uninterrupted service.

A key pillar of of Strategic blueprint at NIGCOMSAT is People. Engagement with our staff is paramount in achieving our goals, so as part of this we hold month Town hall meetings. We constantly create a space to listen to opinions, concerns, and questions, and engage in great discussions with members of staff during the town hall meetings. These meetings are essential for fostering a culture of openness and transparency within the organization.
Our goal at NIGCOMSAT is to create a platform for employees to voice their thoughts and ideas, which are invaluable for our continuous improvement and innovation. By actively encouraging participation, we not only address any issues or concerns promptly but also harness the collective intelligence of our team. This collaborative approach has led to several initiatives that have significantly improved our operations and overall morale.
There was no better way to wrap up the week than by visiting the students at JSS Garki, Abuja. I was accompanied by an amazing team, including Hannatu Mustapha , Omite Ali , Ibiye (Sales), and Ajara from Strategy. Ibiye provided an educative presentation on satellites, covering topics such as their satellite launch processes, history, orbital positions, and various use cases. The energy in the room was palpable, especially during the questions and answers session. All the students were exceptionally bright, and those who answered questions or posed intelligent queries received gifts. This was a small gesture to encourage them to strive for excellence and aim high.
Reflecting on this week, it’s clear that our commitment to internal engagement continues to yield positive results on our employee morale. Our people are our strength as an organization . Also engagements with stakeholders and partners, the interactions with students, every moment contributes to our mission of enhancing innovation and growth. The energy and curiosity of the young minds we hosted were particularly inspiring, It reminded me of the importance of education and mentorship in shaping the future. Moving forward, I am filled with optimism for the exciting projects and collaborations on the horizon. Thank you to everyone who made this week productive and rewarding.
