This week in process excellence
The ethics surrounding the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) continue to make headlines. This week, Regulating AI, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to promoting ethical standards and governance in AI, announced the formation of a new Advisory Board to foster an inclusive, responsible and sustainable AI ecosystem that benefits humanity, while mitigating potential risks and addressing ethical concerns.
Members of the Board are accomplished individuals with extensive experience in governance, policy making and thought leadership around the world. They include former members of US Congress Steve Israel, Jim Moran, Steve Stivers and Daniel Donovan, as well as former US senator Cory Gardner. Former president of Bolivia, Jorge Quiroga and former prime minister of Finland, Esko Aho are also among the new board members.
Regulating AI stated that the board will focus on several key initiatives including developing a comprehensive framework for AI governance, promoting international cooperation, advocating for diverse voices and exploring sector-specific AI implications.
Regulating AI’s founder, Sanjay Puri, said the “remarkable group” represents a diverse array of expertise, experience and perspectives. “As we navigate the complexities of this rapidly evolving technological landscape, the wisdom and counsel of these esteemed individuals will be invaluable in shaping policies that balance innovation, ethical considerations and societal well-being,” he added.
AI remains one of the most impactful factors in modern business process excellence and transformation. This was abundantly clear during All Access: Intelligent Automation 2024 last week, where industry thought and business leaders discussed the era-shaping role AI is playing in the evolving automation space. Global intelligent automation and generative AI thought leader/influencer Doug Shannon put it best, exploring how AI is overshadowing intelligent automation, what that means for automated processes and how to cut through the hype.
