Welcome to Week One of 2024 folks.
As you might expect from a business strategist I've spent some time over the break reflecting on how I want to run and grow the Build,Grow,Last business in the next 12 months.
I've boiled this down to a set of principles:
- Manage the client base. One thing I learned from 2023 was that having lots of clients where I have broad responsibility is tough to manage and can be overwhelming. For 2024 I'm working on the following structure: - One or two clients where I act as a fractional leader in the business - A small number of advisory clients where I work with the leadership team - Around five CEO coaching clients working one to one - The portfolio career cohort running once each month - A limited number of on-demand advisory calls
- Build online options. I've had a lot of conversations this year with folks that are in the early stage of their business and don't have the funds to pay for my services. To cater for this need I'm going to: - Build self service content that can be accessed from the website- Create online courses that structure this content so that folks can use it as a guide for the right stage of their business- Create deeper, longer form, video content that can be accesses for free
- Standardise my work. When I've looked over the work I've done this year there are clear themes so I'm going to use these themes to make my content, courses and work more repeatable. The themes are: - Business Levels, where are we today?- Ideation and Market Fit, will our business work?- Goal Setting, where should we aim for?- Business Planning, how will be get there?- Business Strategy, how does it all come together?- Leadership, who's taking us there?- Governance, are we there yet?- Creating Demand, finding customers.- Fulfilling Customers, keeping promises.- Business Execution, keeping going!
So that's me for at least the first quarter of 2024. What do you think? Did I miss anything? To let me know just reply to this email or DM me on Linkedin.
What are your business plans for 2024? I've love to chat about them.
