Here are my thoughts and insights for the week :)
One Book: The Behavior Change Wheel
Here are the top takeaways from the book:
In summary, this is a book I highly recommend for anyone who is interested in understanding and enabling behavior change and who wants to use an evidence-based and systematic approach.

The Theoretical Domains Framework
The Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF) is a framework that consists of 14 domains. It is used to identify the key determinants of behavior and guide the development of effective behavior change interventions.
Behavior change is complex, and there are many factors that influence whether people adopt new behaviors or not. The TDF helps us to identify these factors, and to develop interventions that address them. It adds a layer to and compliments COM-B.
How to use the TDF
In my experience, you can use the TDF when you have more time and want to go deeper with your analysis of the drivers or influences of behavior, as it just gives you so much more detail, which can help you later on with the design of your solutions.
I just launched a self-paced, Mini-Course on how to use COM-B and the TDF which includes some toolkits, and over-the-shoulder examples of how to classify. (you also get a Miro and Mural board you can duplicate, video content, worksheets, and slides)
I made it very affordable at just 89 Euros. If you were interested in getting the course,?Here is a link .

Behind the Scenes Insights
There is a lot of talk about ChatGPT these days, which is understandable, there is always lots of excitement with new technologies.
The thing is, the technology has been under development for a long time.
In 2015 while I lived in Singapore and worked for a startup, we were already trying to develop - together with IBM Watson - a search for travel that would allow you to type anything you wanted and which would give you the results you wanted.
Sadly the technology was not yet as advanced, so you did not always get the results you needed and also the mental model of prompting wasn’t there yet. (and to a wide extent it isn’t here, except for a few advanced users)
Back then, all I could think about was AI and how much it would change things, but what I didn’t know is that it would take so much more time than I anticipated for the technology to get better.
The image is 8 years old and while some trends seem to be here out of nowhere, remember some of this has been in the works for a long time.
From a?human and behavioral perspective, this technology will be adopted if those designing for it make it easy and attractive to use, (and yes, it has to be reliable) meaning if you have to work hard to try and figure out how to use it, then the adoption will be that much longer, or will be used by only a few, which could create a bigger digital divide.
That’s it for this week!
Best, Robert
