In other news, Centene Corporation appears to be giving up most, if not all, of its office space in Natomas, less than five years after the St. Louis-based company named Sacramento as its regional headquarters, with the expectation that it would bring thousands of jobs to the region.

Restaurateur Aziz Bellarbi-Salah, the owner of Aioli Bodega Espa?ola in Midtown and Brasserie du Monde in Downtown Sacramento, is choosing for the near term to invest in restaurant real estate, rather than open new restaurants himself. He's the new landlord of the Southern-cuisine restaurant The Porch at 1815 K St.

A Howe Avenue property, already entitled for retail development and a convalescent hospital, is on the market .

Rural health care at risk

And lastly, anyone concerned about the state of the health care system should check out Emily Hamann 's investigative series of stories about the financial pressures on rural hospitals that we began publishing today.
