Week in the Life at Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber

Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber Chief Executive Carrie Sudbury , gives an update on her week representing the Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber network.

Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting A1 PRECISION ENGINEERING (2015) LTD in Hellaby, where I gained insight into their production lines, processes, and efficiencies. Fascinatingly, their founding director, Paul, is the creative mind behind the lens used for the iconic split camera work in "Bohemian Rhapsody"!

Alongside Chamber President Matthew Stephens, I represented local businesses at a round table hosted by Sarah Champion MP, focusing on the challenges of shop safety. Sarah took our views and tabled solutions to parliament this week. Rest assured, your voices are being heard.

This week has been fantastic. We had an incredibly productive strategic away day with Shane Young, Ivy Goh, and Kieran Bridges, brainstorming innovative ideas for the Chamber, which we plan to implement in 2024 and 2025.

We are also honoured to have been invited to join both the Barnsley and Rotherham Town Deal boards. Both boards convened this week to discuss the allocation and focus of the £20 million Towns Fund over the next 10 years in each borough.

In addition, we held Chamber Skills Solutions Ltd board meetings, discussing the positive impact Isabelle Chambers is making on local skills provisions. We continue to collaborate with our partners at Doncaster Chamber and Sheffield Chamber of Commerce Chambers in delivering the LSIP.

And to top it off, wonderful meetings with our members Joada Celeste Allen MA , Barnsley College and Spawforths .
