Satellite Survives Impact with Object in Orbit
Kongsberg NanoAvionics' MP42 satellite recently took an unexpected hit from a small piece of space debris or micrometeoroid. The impact created a 6 mm hole, roughly the size of a chickpea, in one of its solar panels.
Despite this damage, the satellite continued performing its mission without interruption. The impact was discovered thanks to an image taken by its onboard selfie camera in October of 2024.

Secures New Joint Strike Missile Contract from Japan
Our business area Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has entered a fourth follow-on contract with Japan to supply the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) for the country’s fleet of F-35A fighter aircraft.
Japan first ordered the JSM in 2018 and has since placed several follow-on contracts with KONGSBERG. The JSM user community continues to grow, and now includes Norway, Japan, Australia and the US Air Force.
