Damen and KONGSBERG Mark Delivery of 1500th Thruster

In a ceremony in Rauma, Finland, Damen Shipyards Group and our business area Kongsberg Maritime have celebrated the delivery of the 1500th Kongsberg azimuth thruster to Damen, in a relationship spanning more than 40 years.

This latest delivery continues the supply of azimuth thrusters for Damen’s wide range of tug designs, operating for its customers in ports across the world.

Successfully Fires Blast Test Vehicle from First Australian-Made NSM Launcher

KONGSBERG is pleased to announce that its first Australian manufactured launcher for the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) capability has successfully completed a Blast Test Vehicle firing in Port Wakefield, South Australia. This activity has been performed as part of deliveries under Project SEA 1300 Phase 1 – Navy Guided Weapons.

Kongsberg Defence Australia ’s Managing Director, John Fry said: ‘This successful BTV firing from an Australian-made launcher is a key milestone in the delivery?of the NSM capability to the Royal Australian Navy. It now allows Kongsberg Defence Australia to commence full-rate production of Australian-made NSM launchers for the NSM program."

Communicating Data Through Frozen Depths

SubZeroSpace brings together each partner's collective talents, resources and networks to solve a challenge that impacts the effective communication of data worldwide, and beyond. A collaboration project between Sintef, UiO (University of Oslo), NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology), NASA, Norwegian Polar Institute, Mustad Autoline and our business area Kongsberg Discovery .

The goal is to find a way to communicate through ice using acoustic sensors to autonomously detect and avoid hazards near, and through, ice and water. The results could revolutionize how research is conducted in harsh and extreme conditions.
