This Week on ICYMI NIL
The Players NIL
Online and in-person coaching that helps student-athletes navigate NIL opportunities and prepare for life after sports.
Welcome to ICYMI NIL - our weekly curated newsletter that provides our take on interesting stories in the world of NIL.
Let's jump into it!
Friday Focus: G.R.I.T.
As we wrap up the week, we are reminded that, like the changing seasons, wins and losses come and go.
Right now, baseball is closing in on the World Series. Football teams are approaching the halfway mark, with momentum building for a postseason push. And soon, winter sports will be gearing up, bringing fresh competition to the forefront.
In every sport, across all seasons, one thing remains constant: the need for G.R.I.T. It's what separates the good from the great, what carries athletes through triumphs and setbacks.
As seasons change and new challenges approach, athletes at every level are motivated by the same timeless truth: G.R.I.T. is essential to success.
Happy Friday, everyone!
Everyone Has Questions About NIL
In just 16 days, we’ve had the privilege of connecting with many amazing athletes, coaches, administrators, and sports management students at Grand Valley State University , Newberry College , Northern Illinois University , and 美国马里兰大学帕克分校 .
Their passion and curiosity have been nothing short of inspiring! We've listened to their questions, observed the skepticism, and engaged in deep conversations on the transformative power of life skills education.
Together, we've explored how this can empower young people to be their best selves both on and off the field.
One thing is clear— EVERYONE has questions about NIL.
There’s a real gap between perception and understanding, and very few recognize the difference between the 2% and the 98%. But that’s where the opportunity lies.

Navigating Group Licensing Programs in College Sports
When Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia led the Commodores to an upset win over the then-No.1 ranked Alabama and uttered the phase "Vandy We Turnt," the on-demand t-shirt company BreakingT quickly released a shirt capturing that moment.
Well, the situation took an awkward turn when Pavia told his social media followers not to purchase the shirt, claiming there was no deal. In reality, BreakingT was licensed through a group licensing program managed by OneTeam Partners - a program that Pavia signed into.
What You Need to Know: No one said there wouldn't be challenges and confusion navigating NIL opportunities, especially with group licensing programs. This situation serves as a timely reminder to ensure athletes are fully aware of third-party relationships.
