A Week Closer To Normal
The last week has been amazing, so close to being back to a normal life that I have literally grabbed every opportunity I have been handed.
Friday was a big day, I got an adjustable table to work on as my old one was falling part and then re-arranged my living room to give me a little corner to be my office.
I feel so much more organised now and sitting in my office chair instead of the armchair has made such a big difference to my back. My old table was too low so using the office chair wasn't possible before.
This new set up also gives me a much better view of the garden so I have something nice to look at when I have a break.
Friday night I had some friends round with their children for dinner, we have started our own weight loss group as we are all going on holiday together next year. It was nice to have them round to chat and spend some time together, can't wait for it to happen more and more like before we went into lockdown.
I was meant to be having a little BBQ on Saturday for my birthday party but the rain put a stop to that so I packed up my husband and our dog Sunny to go to my parents for a few days. I say a few days, it was 4 days seeing as we didn't come back until Tuesday.
Sleeping in a different bed and being able to stay with my parents instead of just seeing them for a few hours was amazing. My mum and I took it in turns to cook dinner, we just sat talking, I took my mum to a cafe for a cup of coffee and a chat, we watched films and just spent time together. It was lovely.
Saturday also brought the reopening of pubs and I am not ashamed to say that I did venture to the pub for a drink with my husband, 3 in fact, 1 on Saturday, 1 Sunday and 1 on Monday. I was very surprised to see how quiet it was in the pubs and was glad to see how very organised the pubs and their staff were. I have heard of overcrowding and dis-organisation in some pubs but I must have been going it at just the right time because I didn't see any of it.
Although my birthday was on Tuesday, my husband took me to my favourite restaurant on Monday....Turtle Bay. It is a restaurant and bar that does amazing cocktails and delicious food. We did the Bottomless Brunch deal so we had a burger each and then it was unlimited cocktails for 2 hours. I don't drink very often so it didn't take me long to get a little bit tipsy but I felt more drunk on the happiness of getting dressed up and going out. There wasn't many people in the restaurant so we got to have a good chat with the staff to see how they were getting on. It was an amazing day.
I have a holiday booked for October to go to Kos in Greece and recently heard that UK holiday makers can go to Greece from the 15th of July so that is looking more and more like it is going to happen. Holiday makers need to wear masks in the airports and on the plane so my husband and I have been looking at masks with the vents in them as we have heard that they are easier to breath in. Fingers crossed that restrictions will be lowered before then so that we can concentrate on just having fun.
It just feels like we are getting closer and closer to being back to some sort of normality and I honestly can't wait. I'm not naive though, I know at any moment there could be another lockdown but I prefer to stay positive and think of all the good things that are coming. More time with family and friends, days out, holidays, live shows, parties, eating out, socialising in the pub and so much more that will give us our life back ??
