A week in Brussels

I have spent last week in Brussels participating in different events and meetings, reconnecting with thought leaders, making new connections and enjoying the conversations and the diversity of opinions around me.
I would like to share a few learnings I took away from this week:
There is tremendous power in communicating the right message at the right time. And when you are passionate about an issue speak up. I believe that the ongoing revision of the Pharmaceutical Legislation will impact Europe’s ability to capture?R&D investments, as well as when and to which medicines we will have access in the future as Europeans. Only a strong and predictable incentives system, a future-fit regulatory framework and innovative access pathways at Member State level will ensure that we will have medicines developed in Europe, for European citizens that will enable us to live healthier, more productive, and longer lives. Thank you Denis Horgan for creating the opportunity to voice this opinion to leading MEPs and EU health officials.?

Active listening is key, only understanding all the different points of view around the table will help us move forward towards a solution that really addresses existing challenges and gaps. As a Member of EuropaBio Board, we must continue the discussions with policymakers and regulators on how biotechnology can transform the lives of European citizens and what is needed from a regulatory and collaboration framework to achieve these goals. This is a critical development area for Europe and could be a competitive advantage if we find these mutual-agreed solutions.
Networking and spending time with people you know and appreciate can boost your morale and offer new learning opportunities. Thank you Michael Nesrallah and Stefaan Fiers for a wonderful evening spent at the AmCham Belgium, for an early celebration of Thanksgiving!
And the humble reminder of why we are doing all of this, by visiting again our site in Lessines and witnessing the incredible purpose-driven work of the entire site team to deliver life transforming plasma-derived therapies to patients around the world. Integrating sustainability into all our operations underscores again Takeda’s commitments to Patients, People and Planet. Thank you Takako Ohyabu, Geoffrey Pot , Kumi Inagaki, Veronique Goethals, Alexander Kandt , Toon Digneffe and the entire team for this great reminder!
