As a preferred stop over point of all agribusiness stakeholders in this week we present you the top Highlights happened over the week across the sector.

When working in the agricultural industry, startups have to be highly customizable. The challenge that arises with this, though, is you aren't able to touch every operation. 1. Government Explains Why Exporting is currently Strong Monitored

Tanzanian’s? Minister of Agriculture Hon Hussein Bashe has clarified on why Exporting crops is currently on vigilante by the Government. He has said the aim of the government is to increase the Tax base of the country. This will be achieved by formalizing the informal sector.

The government offers the export permit for free to formal registered companies with Business Licence, Tin Number and Tax Clearance certificate.

He added that lately Agriculture trade has been intruded with foreigners who buy crops from Tanzania and sell them outside the country without following the proper established channels and procedures.

For Foreigners to be able to perform Agriculture trade there are two options

  1. Partner with a Tanzanian Based and Registered company under the Agriculture supporting activities.
  2. Register a company according to the laws governing the country as per the Company Act, 2002.

2. Agriculture Transformation Office by Ministry of Agriculture

The Tanzanian Ministry Of Agriculture collaborating with the Africa Agriculture Transformation Initiative (AATI) has introduced an Agriculture Transformation office which? brings the Agriculture Transformation Masterplan which will provide the guidelines on where the country is heading and what has to be done in order to get there aims to work on the deliveries and transformation of the Agriculture Sector.

This Tool also has also been developed by support from other institutions such as IFAD, BMGF, AGRA AFRICA,?

3. President Samia provides 40 fishing boats to Zanzibar fishermen

The President of Tanzania Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan June 23, 2023 while on the beach of Kendwa North Region Unguja, Zanzibar has provided 40 fishing boats to various groups of fishermen at the Seafood Festival (Zanzibar Seafood Festival 2023).

Reading the President's speech on behalf of; Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Hon. Abdallah Ulega said the real meaning of the blue economy is the sustainable use of marine resources; while emphasizing the preservation of the marine environment

4. Tanzania Coffee Board Stakeholders Conference

This week Tanzania Coffee Board TCB hosted the 13th stakeholders conference which was attended by various coffee crop value chain actors and government officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and other sectors. Here are a few highlights of what was debated in the conference.

Stakeholders and Farmers of the Coffee crop in the country, have been urged to consider the quality of the Coffee they produce, in order to match the needs of the World market at the moment.

Selcom Paytech Ltd? attended the conference and pitched a new card system specifically for Coffee stakeholders, especially farmers which will simplify the finances and solve most financial problems that farmers face. This Card system will positively impact directly more than 10,000 smallholder farmers. What an undeniable grace? to witness how fast Tanzania is adopting technology integration in agriculture.

Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Hussein Bashe, has praised the Tanzania Coffee Board (TCB), for the good work of managing and strengthening the enabling environment in the coffee sector in the country. In addition, he has congratulated all stakeholders for efforts to increase the productivity of coffee production, where for the first time since our country gained independence, coffee production has reached 82,000 tons worth 235,000,000 dollars.

Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Hussen Bashe (MB) handed over the awards to the winners of the best coffee competition in the country for the 2022/23 season conducted by Tanzania Coffee Board.

1. South Africa’s First Marijuana College

The academy is hoping to ride a global re-think of cannabis regulations. The teaching aims to dispel stigma around marijuana, says Linda Siboto, the co-founder of the institution, which styles itself as Africa's first Marijuana academy.

"It's important for us to professionalize this industry and basically showcase that we're not stoners with red eyes all the time talking about how great the weed is," he says.?

South Africa's President President Cyril Ramaphosa last year said cannabis has "huge potential" to draw investments and "create more than 130,000 new jobs", a big pull in a country with an ailing economy and massive unemployment. Meanwhile the government has handed out hundreds of licenses to grow hemp and medical cannabis.

Tanzania Still hasn't permit Cannabis farming yet, however the government has muted on this opportunity among main reasons being Respecting the Tanzania's moral values. President Samia once clarified that Cannabis farming provides massive income to farmers but Cannabis isn't Blessed by the Almighty God and is among of the major causes to mental illness and related issues among the youth.

Tanzania's major exports are agricultural commodities with tobacco, coffee, cotton, cashew nuts, tea and cloves being the most important. These crop commodities are exported mostly as semi-processed products to processing and manufacturing industries.

As Agribusiness investments and international partnerships strengthen and grow, and Government easing the export permits procedures, International agriculture trade is expected to increase therefore boosting the Tanzania Exports.
